Here we are in the beautiful San Francisco Bay Area where we can garden nearly year round. Yea!
We have Winter rain and Summer drought.
We have hundreds of Native California plants to choose from.
We
have hundreds of types of Native bees (which do not look like the
common European Honeybees) that help with pollination.
There is much
we can do in our own yards and gardens to help protect our environment
while improving the beauty and quality of our lives.
What can I do to help you enjoy your garden more?
Take the work out of it by
planting "the right plant in the right spot."
This simple statement includes many design elements and environmental considerations.
Do you have a lawn in the front of
your home "for looks" and one in your back yard to play on? Do you have a lawn on a slope, or a
lawn that is not being used?
Maybe you could reduce or replace an unusable lawn with something that doesn't need all that constant maintenance and watering.
A beautiful, healthy garden can bring years of enjoyment with minimal watering and maintenance.
What kind of look do you like?
Tropical? That look can be achieved with drought tolerant plants.
Cottage garden? Also, achievable.
California Native? Oh, soachievable!
Many, many perennials are now available from other Mediterranean climates, as well as California, that are drought tolerant. They need very little water to keep them healthy and happy.
Site appropriate landscaping saves time, money, water usage, reduces polluting runoff and helps the local environment in many ways.
If you are thinking of:
Renovating or creating a new Bay-Friendly garden,
Replacing a lawn with a spectacular new and environmentally beneficial design,
Want to have your shrubs and small trees aesthetically pruned forimproved plant health and beauty?
